PCLinuxOS 1623Rick spewed this vial garbage: There is a WindowMaker section in the PCLinuxOS repositories, but it doesn't specifically list a WindowMaker package. Don't know that much about WindowMaker. Yes. There are just a couple of them, that I know about. First is Thac's rpm's. Second is Ocilent1, a repository for newer kernels. Other than that, the installed repositories are very deep and full of non-free stuff. There's no need to add 'universe', 'multiverse' or whatever repositories to get the stuff you want. It's probably already there. Take a look around in one of the repositories for yourself: ftp:--ftp-linux.cc.gatech.edu-pub-metalab-distributions-texstar-pclinuxos-apt-pclinuxos-2004 Honestly, using third party repositories, no matter what distro, is always questionable, unless you're absolutely sure of the source, like Suse's Packman repository. Otherwise, you're risking system stability. Yes. PCLinuxOS uses the Mandriva Control Center, but with some changes such as Synaptic for package management. Yes. No, KDE is default. Basically, you install the LiveCD contents and get a running system. You then add-subtract packages you need-want to customize the distro to your liking. Gnome is in the repositories. Nope. Instead, you fire up Synaptic and reload your package lists, click 'Mark All Upgrades', then 'Apply' and away you go. I like this method much better. Apps like YOU and Mandriva Online are too Orwellian for me. Nope. This is rock solid, beautiful, polished, and just a very good Linux distro. I recommend everyone at least try it. PCLinuxOS 1624 On Fri, 16 Jun 2006 01:32:49 +0000, Rick I'll try, I've been kind of out of touch with PCLOS of late... PCLinuxOS 1625 tab spewed this vial garbage: Huh? Texstar never did anything with KDE for Mandrake-Mandriva. He only had a huge... Just download and burn the .92 LiveCD and run it for yourself. You can get a taste for it before you install it. However, the packages on the LiveCD are outdated, such as KDE, and you'll be upgrading quite a bit to the newer stuff after install. But Apt-Synaptic does a superb job and there aren't any nasty repercussions. A newer version is close to being released, but they don't adhere to a time schedule. It gets released when it's damn good and ready.
