Panasonic DVDRAM recorder format

Hi:

I stuck a DVD-RAM containing a video recording from my Panasonic DMR-E55 into my Linux box with a Panasonic SW-9573 drive. It mounted just fine and I see:

Recovering from "uncleanly unmounted" loop devices
Hi, I had mounted ccd1 and cd2.iso files onto cd1dir and cd2dir directories manually, using -o loop option. While doing 'umount' I did not...

total 2 drwxrwxrwx 2 4294967295 4294967295 196 2005-02-23 05:06 DVDRTAV

total 4157724 -rwxrwxrwx 1 4294967295 4294967295 95798 2005-03-20 17:30 VRMANGR.BUP -rwxrwxrwx 1 4294967295 4294967295 95798 2005-03-20 17:30 VRMANGR.IFO -rwxrwxrwx 1 4294967295 4294967295 4257316864 2005-03-20 17:30 VRMOVIE.VRO

Notice the strange user and group IDs. I did an experiment by moving the files into the root directory of the disk, and eliminating the DVDRTAV directory. I stuck the disk in the DMR-E55 and it said "Unformat"

Then I returned everything to normal, by recreating the dir DVDRTAV, and putting the files back into it.

Still the DMR-E55 says "Unformat."

The problem might be that the process of moving the files caused their ownership to change to my user and group ID. Perhaps without the funky user and group IDs, the recorder refuses to recognize the recorded data.

I tried to change them back to 4294967295:4294967295 as the superuser, but these values are not possible.

I would ultimately like to be able to store recordings onto my PC hard drive, then write them back to a DVD-RAM disk at a later time to play them. Without having to use a DVD video authoring program to create a DVD-R. I may do that later, but for now it should be possible to copy recordings to-from the DVD-RAM and PC HD, and have the recorder not choke on this.

Any idea how to make the DMR-E55 recognize the files again?

Thanks.

P.S. The DVD-RAM from the DMR-E55 mounts as UDF:

dev-hdg onmedia-dvdram type udf (rw,nosuid,nodev,sync,noatime,user=user1)

Good day!
