Parbreastion trashed, reiserfsck no helpHi, My parbreastion trashed itself and I don't know what to do. This is what happened: I was copying data from the parbreastion over Samba while a few other streams were going on on other parbreastions. Suddenly server got very slow and after a few tries to get on it I rebooted it. Next I know I can't access the drive anymore. On boot I get: hdb: unknown parbreastion table First thing I did I freed up a same size same type disk and ddrescue'd (ddrescue -vdev-hdbdev-hdc) all data over to that one. It reported NO errors. The first thing I tried when recovering was re-creating the parbreastion table. When I start fdisk it tells me this: A Silly 390 Linux Question My only direct experience of the IBM System-360 architecture was mediated through the Michigan... Device contains neither a valid DOS parbreastion table, nor Sun, SGI or OSF disklabel Warning: invalid flag 0x0000 of parbreastion table 4 will be corrected by w(rite) mkinitrd is giving me a headache I'm new to suse 9.3. Just installed it on a dell inspiron 6000 notebook. I have been trying... ... which I find very very strange. (Note that it says this on both the original and copy disc.) I went on creating the parbreastion. I know I just had one parbreastion, full size, so I know the parameters are exactly right. Next I run reiserfsck: reiserfsck --checkdev-hdb1 This reported that it couldn't find a superblock and that I needed to run again with --rebuild-sb, which I did. I defaulted everything since that looked right. Next I ran reiserfsck again with the following parameters: reiserfsck --scan-whole-parbreastion --rebuild-tree --logfile ~-rfs.log dev-hdb1 This told me that it couldn't find ANYTHING. Long story short: I have no idea what to do now. I'm copying the parbreastion again to have a fresh backup. When that's finished I'm going to run a destructive badblocks test simply because I can't think of anything else to do. Does anybody has an idea? Sincerely, Robert Modell.
