PartimageDVDRAMHello! I have a problem with my DVD-RAM drive (Panasonic LF-D201) under Gentoo-Linux (SystemRescueCd) with Partimage-0.6.4 I can mount the drive using: PartimageDVDRAM 3650 Black Sun and said: OK, this is the partimage client detecting that the parbreastion you're *saving* is FAT32. Not the parbreastion you're writing to. My bad... mkdirmnt-dvd mount -t vfatdev-sr0mnt-dvd Due to the FileSizeLimit of 2GB in the Kernel of the Gentoo-Linux used by the SystemRescueCd (whenever image file size grows over this limit I have error messages), I have decided to use a limit of 1.5GB for the image file. Using this setting, I can place three files on one DVD-RAM media (e.g. backup.partimage.gz.000 to backup.partimage.gz.002). This works fine. Then I have set the option that makes partimage wait before a new image file is created, to have a pause to change the DVD-RAM media. When the first three image files are written, I have to change the DVD-RAM, which seems to be impossible to me. The drive does not react when pressing the eject button (because the drive is busy even though partimage pauses). I have found out by trying, that I can eject the media by using following console commands in a different task: umountmnt-dvd eject When I mount the drive again after changing the DVR-RAM and try to continue the backup with partimage, I get an error message informing me that the media is full. This must be because partimage does not recognize my way of changing the DVD-RAM media and continues it's calculation of free disk space based on the media that containes the three image files already written. PartimageDVDRAM Sender: Linux This is probably because the DVDRAM is still writing the previous files. If you try to copy some files from your hard drive to dvdram, it will show the copy is made quite quickly... I have seen that this way of backup on DVD-RAM should work with partimage, but there must be a different way to change the DVD-RAM media. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks! Michael
