Posix sucks, Linux sucks, I want my compatibility backFirefox keeps crashing Hi I do not know what is wrong, but this morning, firefox started crashing on its own (Debian GNU-Linux Testing). I did an strace : ----snipped a large chunk ------ access("-home-msingh-.kde--share-icons... On Thu, 24 Aug 2006 14:50:20 -0700, TimeTraveler staggered into the Black Sun and said: snippage ? That doesn't make much sense. SuSE has RPM brain-damage, sure, and the Redhat-ification of SuSE's init scripts around 8.0 made it suck badly, but you should be able to install-use audio creation software without contortions. If you need the "1000Hz timer support", grab the latest vanilla tarball and compile it--that'll get around all the bugs in the SuSE-patched kernel. But I think you're going to have to be much more specific than "it isn't good" to get your problems solved. This also doesn't make much sense. If you can see parbreastion 3 in "fdisk -ldev-hdb", and it's of type 0x83, and there's a ReiserFS on that parbreastion, "mount -t reiserfsdev-hdb3mnt-somewhere" should Just Work. Unless you did something odd like use ReiserFS 4, or use LVM, or use ReiserFS 3.5.... Post the output of "mount -v -vdev-hdb3mnt-somewhere" so that experienced troubleshooters can look at it. -- Matt GThere is no Darkness in Eternity-But only Light too dim for us to see Brainbench MVP for Linux Admin mail: TRAP + SPAN don't belong ----------------------------- penguins, is Tux." --MegaHAL Smartmontools and supported disks I have just installed the latest rpm on my FC4 machine, but I have problem to get smartmontool to work...
