ProTools vs. Ardour. Why spend the money 776On 03 Apr 2006 17:37:33 GMT, Kevin the Drummer
This is probably true but I think it stems from different reasons. The Windows user base is clogged with people who have no clue how to maintain a system and thus end up with 6 pop-up blockers, 3 spyware removers and tons of crap they don't need. As a result their systems start to tank. With Linux, I think the work required is more of researching how to get things like hardware installed. However the Linux user base would tend to be more involved with their systems so they don't end up in a mess like the Windows user do. That would be my advice to him as well. Nice! I use a Soundcraft Ghost myself and a Delta 1010 and 66 as well. ProTools vs. Ardour. Use what works for you! My only objection to the OP was that he was moving from a PT system and seems to be looking for a drop in replacement from Linux and from what I have seen that ain't gonna happen, at least not yet.
