ProTools vs. Ardour. Why spend the money 784Les Cramer Ah, Yes. That's one thing that's actually much easier to do in Linux than in Windows. So easy that you don't need special tools (like Ghost) for it and that paradoxically makes it more difficult for the end-user. Making a backup involves no more than running a 'tar' command (tar is like a windows zip file) that saves a file to a network drive (or over a network pipe). Recovering from a backup is no more difficult than booting from a rescue disk, recreating the parbreastions and formatting and restoring the files from the tar file. Then recreate the boot record with a grub boot disk. ProTools vs. Ardour. For me that is quite easy, as I imagine it would be for most seasoned Linux users. It's more work than booting from a Ghost disk, but that's no problem cause I don't do it more than once every few years. ProTools vs. Ardour. In Windows this kind of thing is much more dfficult (as well as more often needed, thanks to malware) and the users are generally less seasoned. The result is that the tools are not as easy to use as they are on windows. Because the people that make the tools, don't really need them themselves... I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just explaining why things are the way they are.
