Wonderful. And how much searching and reading and googling must I do to figure that little gem out? And how do I restore and an entire image, or just certain files from an image? IOW what do I boot with? It appears I need a different incantation of that gibberish for each type of backup I want to run?

I run a small studio, that is what I do. I know how to use my tools full well. Learning to be a programmer is not on my A list.

On 3 Apr 2006 05:54:30 -0700, Mike Rivers Nothing is difficult about doing it with Windows, that's my point. However, it would be nice if hard disks didn't...

You mean it's the same thing as clicking the Monday box and changing the time to 2:00AM with Ghost? I'd rather click the boxes than you. It leaves me a lot more time for my business.

Then what do I do with them? IOW how do I enter them into Linux?

Ok. So it's like clicking the Ghost box that says "Every Day"

More reading. More lost time.

I thought Linux was secure?

So it's like clicking the "Overwrite or Incremental box" with Ghost.

Of course not, I prefer to run my business, not earn a degree in programming.

You and I must have a far different concept of what is difficult and what is not. It's a lot harder than Ghost.

mista twista This brings me to two thoughts: (1) What's so difficult about backing up your data? Plug...

And where did I say there is no equivalent of Ghost? I never said that.

I'm not sure why but the concept of "ease of use" seems to be lost on Linux users. It seems Linux users are interested in taking computing back to the stone age for some odd reason.

Here in comp.os.linux.misc, Windows comes with only a few basic tools and utilities out of the box, requiring users to purchase separate pieces of software (like Ghost) to perform certain types...

Are you hugging me again?

Read the comment again. It was a compliment to Linux, IOW Linux can be made to back up just about anything using any criteria down to the LSB. Of course, you have to be a programmer to figure out how to make it do that, but still, it can't be denied that Linux *can* do it.

I never said that so *you* in fact are the person spreading untruths. Maybe that's why there is a UN at the beginning of your name?
