Problem With Mandrake Installation

I recently attempted to install Mandrake 10.1 but I have ran into some problems. I booted the DVD and got up to the parbreastioning part. The warning came on that I needed to defrag and do chkdsk on my hard drive.

To get out of the installation I pressed ctrl-alt-delete and shut off the computer.

I then performed the chkdsk and defrag and reattempted the install.

The installation abruptly stops and I get the following message:

Found Intel Corp (8021 FR-FRW (ICHC6R-ICH6RW) SATA Controller "parport-pc" "imm" "ppa" interfaces. Do you have another one?

If I press no I get the following message:

alex What do you mean by "use unicode characters"? Hardcoded, numeric, Unicode representation? Non-ASCII characters? And...

An error occurred An error occurred no valid devices found on which to create new file systems. Please check your hardware for the cause of the proble.

If I check yes it gives me a voluminous list of drivers which I attempt to install. If it's incompatible it lets me know. If it's compatible it adds itself and then asks the question again.

I added about 8 drivers that it liked but when I added an HP driver the computer stalled.

It's obvious that I caused the problem by abruptly stopping the original installation. Is there anything I can do to reverse this problem?

Thanx in advance

Alan
