Problem with file permissions from Windows using SambaHi, I have a problem on my Linux RedHat AS3 server and I think it is a permission problem. It's the following situation : On a Windows 2000 server there is a drive mapping to a Linux samba share. The drive mapping is made using the same username-pbuttword as mentioned in smb.conf and smbpbuttwd. From Windows explorer I have full access to that share so that looks normal. On the Windows server there is also a service running which checks the mapped drive for specific files. This service creates a temporary file on the share and the file is removed when the service is stopped. This all works fine on our test server. I have done exactly the same on our production server and now the temporary file is not created so the Windows service won't run correct. Again from the Windows explorer I have full access to the share so I have no idea why the service can't write the file. On the Linux machine I created the directory which is shared using Samba as In the smb.conf file I gave permissions to the correct user who is also a local user. The option writable is set to yes. The SMB service was restarted. Again, the same setup works perfect on our testserver but I can't see why it won't work on the prod.server. My knowledge of Linux is a bit limited so I could really use some help here. remote server backup script Hi, I'm not good at programming, but was wondering if there was a script already created, or any howto on backing up. This is what I want to do. Basically... Thanks, Richard create a minimum liveCD that acts as an nfs server I am a Windows user :( that has a problem :).
