Problems burning a double layer DVD

Ken, I've successfully burned DL DVDs with k3b. It uses growisofs as a back end, and there is an option (at the end, after burning IIRC) to look at debugging output that includes the growisofs command line. That could show you what options to use. Note that this will probably work even in simulated burn mode.

I also tried to burn a DL DVD with growisofs, and wasn't able to get it to work. The man page was no help. But once I got it to work with k3b, I never went back and looked at how it did it. If you find the answer, please post it here so others can use growisofs without having to install k3b.

One note about k3b: when you're setting up your DVD project, the "space available" bar at the bottom shows an upper limit of 4.7 GB by default. After you insert your DL DVD in the burner, right click on the space available bar, and a "DVD size" menu will pop up. Choose "From disk" and the capacity limit will go up to 8.7 GB.

comp.os.linux.misc - This is my first time posting to a Linux group, so please let me know if there's a better place to put this. I'm pretty new with Linux...

Good luck, Andrew.
