Process end 2370Allan Adler It will have some information, but you will need to do some investigations with the running program to a more exact reason. Although it is probably safe to buttume your process ran out of memory. Process end 2371 I think you're saying that I should do the following: (1) In one terminal window, as root, execute tail -fvar-log-messages (2) In another terminal window... man free It will detail how memory is currently being used. Try it at different runlevels. I doubt using different runlevels will make a huge difference to your app as all you'll be doing is delaying the inevitable as you found before. It would be useful to know how you did that. You're obviously running at the very limit of your computing resources and trying to predict how much memory you need before you run your process is very dependent on your code. However, tools like free, top and ps will give an idea how much is available and how much is being used. I think that will be a bad idea as any std linux distro will use *more* memory than your current version (RH 7.1). Increasing swap is not that difficult, but it all depends on the setup of your machine. That's unnecessary. Look at the specification data from the HP website (I found it the other day in a couple of minutes) and-or use the memory selector tools on crucial or kingston's website. Those sites are very useful and offer guarantees that the memory will work.
