Question about Linux Camera Security System, Other Cash Ideas
Hi, I need to manage some master ISO9660 images created with mkisofs and in addition guarantee the integrity of copies that are made from those images...
I've been reading the threads on brute force attacks. I see these and I block the addresses (after the fact) but I do monitor, log and block based on how bad the attacks...
I guess the cash miracle of the Asterisk PBX system has got me thinking about other profit ideas...
At my day job where I work for a global corp, they put in a very expensive camera system when they leased the office space. When the branch president wanted to extend the system with 3 more cameras, it came to a whopping cost of $13,000!!!
Anyone know of free Linux software that permits you to connect coaxial or web cams to a PC, and then sample the video stream at a slow rate in order to save it to disk? If I could get this off the ground, I could make a $$$ KILLING $$$ from this, as could all of you Linux guys. If the average system for a 400 employee office costs about $20,000 to $30,000, and you could come in and build something comparable for $4,000 (your cost) and turn around and sell it for $10,000 to $15,000, you could make quite a lot of money.
What about reading a biometric handprint device or a security badge from Linux? One could build a timecard or door entry system for pennies on the dollar and save the customer thousands and get you thousands in cash in return. The same profit motive is here.
Imagine going in on new building leases and selling them separate PBX, security camera, timecard, and secure door systems -- all running on Linux -- saving the customer thousands of dollars and making you very wealthy. If I could get at least $15,000 per business for at least one of these ideas, and if I could sell 20 of these each year for a total of 4 years, I would be a millionaire.
