Redhat have always tried to ignore KDE in the hopes that it would go away, but you should still be able to install KDE using whatever excuse for apt-portage that distro uses.

Open a konsole-eterm-xterm, type "locate*pattern-* " to find all files matching pattern. Much faster than find if you haven't fiddled with the cron jobs that run at 0-dark-thirty every night and rebuild the locate database.

will tell you to open an xterm, enter "xhost +localhost", use su to as root. This doesn't work quite the same way now; you should do "xhost +local: " instead of "xhost +localhost" since most X servers are started with "-nolisten tcp" these days.
