You do need to verify the md5sum or sha1sum checksum before burning on whatever you download and be sure to pick the selection for burning image in your burning software.

You can pick manual-custom during parbreastion phase, create about a 6 gig parbreastion and install there. That allows you to have a multiboot system where you can load more than one linux to figure out which one is for you. That also allows you to load new releases and not dink up your current install. As a power user, I tend to run with Mandriva free 4 cd set which labels it's version-releases by year. Snippet from my boot loader (lilo).
