I'm perfectly willing to concede that. I'm enjoying the conversation. And while I don't expect to "win" the debate -- defined as converting anyone to my point of view -- I find that debate, in and of itself, is useful for clarifying one's own thoughts.

Digital filter theory? Hell, no. I wouldn't begin to presume. The relative merits of CLI vs. GUI. Why not? I've used computers for a long time -- 25 years or so. Started out with UNIX on a mainframe at AT&T. I have extensive experience with both UIs, but I'm not a programmer. I use the one that's best suited to the purpose at hand.
For the tasks that I wish to accomplish, I only rarely find a CLI preferable. YMMV. I object to the atbreastude that you or Peter or anyone else for that matter, may presume to know what's best for everyone else. Bill Gates tends to think that way.
