I'm perfectly willing to concede that. I'm enjoying the conversation. And while I don't expect to "win" the debate -- defined as converting anyone to my point of view -- I find that debate, in and of itself, is useful for clarifying one's own thoughts. If Alan believes that I'm comparing Peter to the old lady in my story he's obviously incapable of comprehending English.
Digital filter theory? Hell, no. I wouldn't begin to presume. The relative merits of CLI vs. GUI. Why not? I've used computers for a long time -- 25 years or so. Started out with UNIX on a mainframe at AT&T. I have extensive experience with both UIs, but I'm not a programmer. I use the one that's best suited to the purpose at hand. For the tasks that I wish to accomplish, I only rarely find a CLI preferable. YMMV. I object to the atbreastude that you or Peter or anyone else for that matter, may presume to know what's best for everyone else. Bill Gates tends to think that way.
