It's because you've filled it up. Delete something or make it larger.

I Want to identify best Linux approach, and any pitfalls. 297
You don't give a budget for your system so it's hard to recommend hardware. However here are some general rules, 1) Nvidia graphics card. Nvidia has the best Linux support. Any Nvidia card will...

Your problem is? Is it that you don't know how to list files in home by order of date or size?

Is that what your question was meant to be?

I Want to identify best Linux approach, and any pitfalls
I have use Linux a fair bit, but not for some years and never as a desktop..simply couldn't get the applications for it.. Now it seems that...

"How do I list the files inhome to see what has been added most recently, or what are the largest space hogs, in order that I may delete the worst culprits"?

Or did you want a breakdown by file type and suffix? Or by directory?

What do you mean by "root"? 2GB would be a very small installaton these days, so I can't believe you mean "-". If OTOH you mean "-root", then you have been hacked, sincerot should contain almost nothing, and if you didn't put something there, somebody did! And ne would suppose they were root.

That's because you've filled it up. Delete something or make it larger.

No you wouldn't - please stop confusing problem and solution, and wishes with solutions.

No, clearly it means that you don't understand why it IS the best choice. You want to take time out to understand it - from here it looks as though you have been hacked.

Nu, it's impossible. And against the law. Moreover the moral rights brigade will come round and see you.

Re:home out of space 294
Indeed. And no need to apologize for others. This is usenet after all. There's two types of trolls. Ones who are clearly...

No - what you want to do is

1) figure out what is going on 2) figure out what to do about it.

If, as it looks, you have been hacked, you want to wake up sharpish.

Your present hazy druggish vague thought patterns don't inspire confidence. I feel obliged to murmur.

Go look hard about you. At some point you may wish to shrink parttion X and expand parbreastion Y - but before that you WILL have gne and investigated, this time thinking "someone is hacking me" every time you notice the slightest anomaly, instead of saying to yourself "that's odd - I think I'll get more money out of the bank because it is disappearing from my pockets without me touching it"!
