Recommendations for rstricting ftpANOUNCEMENT: zsplit, unzsplit: free linux tools to make a full drive image backup Please visit the homepage of DeviceImage-Project: Disk images provide a powerful backup-restore solution and are exact copies of your hard drive which are created by using low level byte... to It's several sub-folders off the root of the receiver. Permission wise I only want to allow ro, so I'd mounted the smb share with the ro option. The receiver runs a cut down OS and doesn't come with an nfs server, just an nfs client and smb server. Apologies for confusing matters, so I'll put details below: I need to give three users ftp access to a specific sub-folder on my receiver. I initially mounted the receiver's smb share asmnt-satellite and wanted to allow the three users access tomnt-satellite-movies-recorded. I didn't want to grant the users to anywhere else on either the receiver or my fedora box, so I enabled the chroot option. I tried the symbolic link option (linkingmnt-satellite-movies-recorded tohome-user1-recorded) but it obviously didn't work. I've now achieved this by adding a new entry on the receiver's smb.conf pointing at themovies-recorded folder and then mapping this share on the fedora box to the generic user's home folder. If I want to allow access to another sub folder on the receiver I can create a second generic account. I can do this while chrooting my users too. The only downside is that I cannot create individual user accounts and also that if I want to give someone access to two separate branches on the receiver, they'll need to log in twice using the relevant generic account. Thanks again, Chris
