Crashes caused by numerous file writes
I've been experiencing an alarming number of system freezes in the last couple of weeks (nothing appears in any of the system log files, but all processes...

I posted to this newsgroup because our webserver is a Linux box and my reasoning was that someone here would have had the same need as we have.

Thanks for the suggestions, however, we do not want to mirror on the Linux box or keep a drive at our hosting company. We want to be able to do a backup on the Linux server for each of our web sites using automated software that can be configured to download to our location where we have Windows PC's. Can we do that with Samba?

Our server has a basic facility to create at Tar file from each website and save it to another server. There are problems with this method. 1. It takes too long. Nearly 3 hours. 2. The backup is not at our location, and not on the Linux box, but at a totally different different location. 3. Our machines are behind a router and firewall, so we do not have an exposed URL to point the backup to. 4. It is not fully automated and it creates a complete backup every time.

Once again, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Tony
