Scheduling Jobs Last day of the month HOWTO 2354Scheduling Jobs Last day of the month HOWTO 2355 Michael B. Johnson And there's the flaw in your buttumption: Bash is merely the default shell on many linux systems. It is by no means the only shell available. Linux users can choose... On Thu, 31 Aug 2006 01:11:00 +0200, Michael Heiming I disagree. I believe that Bashisvery definitely closely related to Linux. For example, I believe it would difficult for newbies to interoperate with the OS solely via EMACS, without a shell like Bash. Therefore, because the shell is so closely tied to the operating system, and because bash is a commonly used shell, questions about bash are probably appropriate to a Linux oriented newsgroup. And who knows more about Cron (or Bash) than the Linux crowd? Besides, how am I to grow *my* experience with Linux if it's not available to me at work, without something like Cygwin? I respect your loathing of the OS with which I am compelled to work everyday but when I try to think out of the box, why oppose my fledgling attempts at freedom? Don't you want to grow your audience? Of course you do or you wouldn't put so much effort into "public education" the postings in this group, so please consider my plight! :-) erratic network latency jitter problem Hi For some time now I have had the problem with my laptop that the network latency of my computer is constantly varying (called jitter... How am I to introduce Linux to the environment where I work, unless I use the Cygwin baby walker first and can develop evidence to prove my case? Nevertheless, your point about comp.unix.shell being more appropriate to my question is well made and I freely acknowledge you've made your point. Thanks again toeveryone-, Michael Heiming included, for all the gracious input you've supplied. I value and appreciate it, no matter the impudence I may appear to display. Cheers, Michael B. Johnson
