Sco claim is Invalid. 3015help: why dosent this code work Hi, This code is supposed to print "hello world" character by character with an inteval of 40 ms between it. But it goes into...
I have a copy of the first edition, copyright 1987,and there's no place for disks in the book. There is a form at the back, to order them. Binary and source for various IBM type computers, or source on magenetic tape, for $79.95 each. There was eventually a version for the Atari ST, which might have been more expensive. I can't remember, I was tempted but it may have merely been too much for me at the time. I seem to recall that the book was hardly peanuts, though I only paid a dollar for my copy, used a few years ago at the same store where I got a pair of books about XINU. Minix was originally about the book. The operating system wasn't intended to be a new product to be used, but a sample of an operating system. Any useage of Minix as a primary operating system came later. Minix wasn't "free" in any sense until years later when the license was changed. There was nothing to allow the source code to travel. I have no idea if the book is complete enough for someone to be able to type the source in and compile the operating system, but it was illegal to pbutt that code on if you'd typed it in, just as with any copyrighted material.
