No, he didn't. What he did was to make an inflammatory statement, and elicited a hostile response. This proves only that if you call people names, some of them will respond in anger. If I go into an ethnic neighborhood and say, "Hey, all you ethnics are crazy", guess what? Some of the ethnics will take exception with that and beat my non-ethnic butt.

Why would you expect that? I don't know of many groups that overlook insults. Why should Linux users be any different? Think of it this way: Replace "Linux user" with the name of some race, religion, gender, loveual orientation, disability, etc. Consider what would happen if Dvorak made that statement about such a group. The results would be similar, in my opinion. "Gay community represented by lunatics"; "African-American community represented by lunatics"; "Catholic community represented by lunatics". You think there wouldn't be some harsh criticism of Dvorak, if he said things like that?

Of *course* some Linux users responded in anger. Dvorak was being a jerk, insulting and rude and wildly inaccurate (hint: who is the "Linux community", and who represents it?).

As for your generalization of the Linux user, you have not offered any support for your claim. Until you do, it remains nothing but speculation, no more valid than any personal opinion. My personal opinion is that you are a bletcherous cretin, but of course, I have only your words to support that claim.
