If you instead want your machine to act as a bridge between two internal networks on two different interfaces, with two different nets addresses and masks, well that's crazy. You want to route instead, and that requires no special setup. If you want to give two (or more) different IP addresses to the same NIC so that several different nets will share the same physical wiring, well again that's no problem. Just do it, using the usual ifconfig commands on eth0:0, eth0:1, etc. (the different alias devices). I imagine there is something to click in your control panel too.
