Should I go Mac or PC. Neither!! 1653grub following words to the mbuttes incomp.os.linux.misc...: I'm not entirely sure what you mean or whether your information is correct... If the kernel version you've posted here *is* correct, then youare running...
Frankly, no, but if you'll provide me with a fully working Linux system with a really good audio application on it, I'll be happy to check out your prowess. You pay the shipping both ways. I don't use ProTools, but I have a Fast Edit system up and running, and I don't have a Lnux system, so I guess I can say that I can edit. Did I trash it? I have no need to try it, however, since I have all the computer I need right now. Why change when I don't need anything better? Intelligence is recognizing what it takes to do a job and ignore distractions. You're like a fly and you need swatting. For one thing, there are no professionally recognized audio applications that run under it. If someone calls me up to book a session and asks if I have ProTools and I say "No, but I have Ardour" he'll look for another studio. Linux is for hobbyists and for serious developers who can afford the time to build and maintain their systems at the code level. People argue that analog tape decks require a lot of maintenance so they don't want to use them. Your questions about whether I've ever compiled my own kernel suggests that Linux is an appropriate system for people who have taken the time to learn how to do that, and how to make it work. I'm too old for that. I want something that I can install off the shelf and start using without compiling anything. Should I go Mac or PC. Neither!! 1654 Mike Rivers Go here and download it. So you don't know, but yet Linux is not professional enough for you? Nobody has answered the question so you are not alone... I'm replying with the full cross-posting because you're obviously trolling in rec.audio.pro from one of the computer newsgroups. If I do that again when responding in this thead, please shoot me.
