This is probably something other than a full parbreastion. So, it worked earlier, and now it doesn't? Are you on-line all the time? Run top and see if there is some process eating up lots of cycles. If there is one, it might be that you have been the victim of some sort of script kiddie who is using your machine to launch attacks on others. If you are on-line all the time, make sure that 1) you don't have services like ftp or telnet running (ftpd or telnetd are bad in this sense). The only service I have running is sshd, and even then I block all but the other machines I want to use to access this one. Look intoetc-hosts.allow andetc-hosts.deny for details.
