Software for Automated BackupsHi all, Software for Automated Backups 7241 E11 cron will do this. find will do this. Many programs will do this. If I had to use free software, I would prefer cpio, and... I'm looking for a Linux software to do simple automated backing-up of some of my files to an external (USB) harddisk. (OK, actually there are many out there, just wondering which one would suit my needs.) What i need is: - to be able to specify the backup schedule - to be able to specify the directories and files to backup - to be able to specify the destination - since i intend to backup to a USB harddisk, and it will not be mounted all the time, it would be good if it can prompt me to mount the harddisk if it detects that it is not mounted. Other common features of backup softwares such as incremental backups and "rolling" are not needed, since i'm only backing-up files such as OOo documents for the purpose of DR, and don't need to be able to rollback to a "previous version", so to speak. Actually, looking back at my requirements, i suppose it can be achieved through a shell script and cron, but well, if someone has already written a nice backup software, that would be a better option. A bonus would be a nice UI frontend to the .rc file. Any recommendations?
TIA and Regards, Edwin
