Status of OREXX in Linuxwireless network 1197 On Tue, 25 Apr 2006 14:23:33 -0700, Dale You mean RH9 which is obsolete and came out before there... Shmuel, Well I'm sure you're aware that Object Rexx is now Open Open Rexx (ooRexx) and is owned by The Rexx Language buttociation. At this year's Symposium (April 9-13) in Austin, TX there were multiple presentations of ooRexx on both Windows & Linux. Personally I use ooRexx primarily on Windows but started working with Suse 10 Linux a few months prior to the Symposium. My main reason for doing this was to "demostrate" that through the use of BSF4Rexx, ooRexx GUI applications could be developed on either platform and run unchanged on the other platform. In fact one might could expect to see a port to Mac OS-X later this year. :-) As was-is the case on OS-2 one can use "object" Rexx without using "objects" as ooRexx is fully compatiable with Clbuttic Rexx. There were several presentations this year that dealt directly with that topic. As far as ooRexx & Regina running alongside each other, there are folks that are doing that and could better address the issues than I could. I can not speak for the Regina "keepers", but I think I can say with a bit of certainity that most enhancements to Rexx will come in ooRexx. In fact a 64 bit version is already being developed with a completely new set of APIs. In regards to some sample applications in ooRexx (Windows), wander these samples are Windows specfic, but over the next few months I plan to add numerous examples of automating Open Office with ooRexx much like the samples I now have for automating Excel. Dr. Rony Flatscher has developed a "clbutt" that makes such automation of Open Office very simple from the programmers aspect. I can only hope that over the next few years, we as a group (RexxLA) can work to get ooRexx as part of some of the Linux distros; however, since it's freely available from SourceForge I'm not really sure what benefit the inclusion would have, but it would be NICE! wireless network 1198 Dale Well Dale, it seems some folks got up on the wrong foot, not a very pleasant welcome. In their defense: there are so many postings here (and elsewhere) that... You're welcomed to contact me directly if there's anything else I can buttist you with in your transition from OS-2. Our company still runs several mission critical OS-2 systems along side Windows & Linux. Lee Peedin President, RexxLA wireless network 1199 On Thu, 27 Apr 2006 08:29:13 -0700, Dale Did you check out RH9? I suppose that... On Mon, 24 Apr 2006 09:19:42 -0300, "Shmuel (Seymour J.) Metz"
