Or, perhaps, using someone else's, carelessly configured as an open proxy, without their knowledge...

But that doesn't seem likely, considering just how inexperienced this would be scammer (or idiot troll) appears to be.

This is the crudest and stupidest con I have ever seen.

And I strongly advise that no one mail you or connect to any server that you might want them to.

His apparent ignorance may be a ruse.
