Riches Jr. I guess KDM, since I had a terrible time even getting all of KDE installed to the point where startx would actually work and boot into KDE (though now it seems fine - or as well as can be expected). I used the 1st CD of 14 only during install and have done 'apt-get install kde' and some others since -- but even after installing KDE, I stil could not get to a DE -- I found through 'apbreastude' some other those..then finally 'startx' worked I'm using GRUB -- here's menu.lst A newbie's progress continued Hello, it's me again.
