Hi Guys,

I am facing some strange problem,

kernel is 2.4.18-e12smp system is IA64

While running badblocks command on different parbreastions we found that there are several badblocks, The O-P of the command is provided below for oneof the filesystem.

#badblocks -v -sdev-sdb1 Checking for bad blocks in read-only mode From block 0 to 10241406

10241392 10241393 10241394 10241395 10241396 10241397 10241398 10241399 10241400 10241401 10241402 10241403 10241404 10241405 done

Pbutt completed, 14 bad blocks found.

To verify this we tried running the dd command, while dd gives the I-O error for the blocks, an interesting messages appears invar-adm-messages as follows,

#dd bs=1024 skip=10241390 if=-dev-sdb1 of=-dev-null dd: reading `-dev-sdb1' Input-output error 10241392+0 records in 10241392+0 records out

var-adm-messages O-P May 24 21:46:58 online kernel: attempt to access beyond end of device May 24 21:46:58 online kernel: 08:11: rw=0, want=10241408, limit=10241406

The same messages appears with all the 4 parbreastions i am testing for badblocks,

All the four parbreastions report badblock at the end of the parbreastion only.

Can somebody give some input about this behaviour

Thanks in advance.
