Subject:devsda16 isn't being initializedRe:devsda16 isn't being initialized the Black Sun and said: Nope, IDE disks are limited to 63 parbreastions. This is interesting, but it *might* fail in stupid ways. You'll have to try it and see. OTOH, I wonder why... On Ubuntu Linux 6.06.1 Hi, all. This is my first post to this group. By way of introduction: I'm very new to Linux but I've been using PCs since the mid-1990s and have even buttembled a few from parts. I started with MS-DOS 3.3, moved to 5.0 and then 6.2, tried Windows 3.1 and found it ghastly, and switched to OS-2 version 3. I've been using OS-2 ever since. With IBM encouraging OS-2 users to switch to Linux, though, I thought I'd go ahead and dive in. Books and online forums have been helpful, and there are still a few things I need to iron out. This looks like the group where that could happen. My PC is a few months old, a 3.0 GHz with a megabyte of RAM on an ASUS P5WD2 motherboard. I currently have Windows 98 (for the DOS; there are some old games that work best under the real thing), Windows XP SP2 (I'm the alpha geek among my acquaintences, so it helps to keep up on how to solve Windows problems), eComStation 1.2R (the latest version of OS-2), and Ubuntu installed, thanks to the guidance of Felix Miata. Now for my request for buttistance-advice. I'm only using about half of my 250GB hard disk right now, and that space is divided into 16 parbreastions. (This was true before I installed Ubuntu.) Parbreastion 16 is a FAT32 parbreastion recognized by both XP and eCS, but is not noticed by Ubuntu. There's no listing indevfor it. What might I do to force its recognition? Re:devsda16 isn't being initialized On Sat, 09 Sep 2006 12:32:44 -0500, Dances With Crows Hmm... I guess your rules for civility and mine are different. I've long considered it rude to drop into... Thanks for any help.
