Suse 10.1 and QLogic SAN problems 2749zip vs. tar.gz Hi, I'm trying to make a decision whether I should use zip or tar.gz for my backup solution. Traditionally, the tar.gz is easier to deal with on a linux system, since it's 'native', but...
Sorry, not enough info. The san itself is an EMC, which has its own switch. It is being used by a lot of machines with no problems. These are all windows systems however. Regardless, I think the san itself is configured correctly. k2:-etc # dmesg grep -i qlogic QLogic Fibre Channel HBA Driver QLogic Fibre Channel HBA Driver: 8.01.05-fo QLogic QLA2340 - k2:-etc # dmesg grep -i scsi SCSI subsystem initialized scsi0 : atapiix Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 05 sr0: scsi3-mmc drive: 24x-24x cd-rw xa-form2 cdda tray sr 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi CD-ROM sr0 sr 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg0 type 5 scsi1 : atapiix Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 05 SCSI device sda: 488397168 512-byte hdwr sectors (250059 MB) SCSI device sda: drive cache: write through SCSI device sda: 488397168 512-byte hdwr sectors (250059 MB) SCSI device sda: drive cache: write through sd 1:0:0:0: Attached scsi disk sda sd 1:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg1 type 0 Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 05 SCSI device sdb: 488397168 512-byte hdwr sectors (250059 MB) SCSI device sdb: drive cache: write through SCSI device sdb: 488397168 512-byte hdwr sectors (250059 MB) SCSI device sdb: drive cache: write through sd 1:0:1:0: Attached scsi disk sdb sd 1:0:1:0: Attached scsi generic sg2 type 0 scsi2 : qla2love So this seems to suggest that the san is sg2? Honestly Im in over my head with this. I know linux but Im not an admin, Im a software engineer. I just know more about linux than anyone here (sad but true) and our IT manager just got fired. If the san is sg2, how do I mount the thing? Ive tried everything I can think of. Thanks for your help. B
