Suse Linux What is gold editionFirst of all, thanks everyone for your time and replies. I am answering to you in a single post. Stephen Chadfield Linux installation no go I am trying to get Mandriva 2007 to install on my machine, but it won't (also tried Suse 10.1 it also... There were ones earlier called Gold and well, non-Gold (whatever it was called) during the Suse 9.x days. I suppose the ISO file names were *gold*.iso. Readline5.2 available for FTP The first public release of the GNU Readline library, version 5.2, is now available for FTP with the URLs ftp:--ftp.cwru.edu-pub-bash-readline-5.2.tar.gz ftp:--ftp.gnu.org-pub... Does anyone know of that. It seems like suse has dropped the idea of Gold and non-Gold. Both were free downloads by the way, the only difference being that non-Gold was completely Open Source, while the Gold version had software components that were not open source, like the mp3 codecs. I searched the web but could not find anything about it. But I am not sure about drivers, so I will just try it out, otherwise I will switch to the 32-bit version. Stan Thanks. I will try out the 64 bit version. If it works, fine, else I will switch to 32-bit version. I have an AMD Athlon64 X2 processor, socket AM2. I wonder if drivers would be available. Asus website has no linux drivers for download, as far as I searched their site. Michael Heiming Ok, I will try out FC5 too. Just hoping that it will be stable enough. And I suppose mp3 players are available as free downloads for Linux. Eg. Realplayer and xmms. I guess it wont be so difficult to get it to work. Actually, I am going to try to run eclipse + tomcat (+ perhaps weblogic, i have heard that weblogic server is available free for download for non-commercial purposes, without enterprise features. Is that true, in case anyone knows).
