Surely gmail communicates with you via POP3, so the mail client is irrelevant .. it's the POP client that is of interest.
Gmail support responded that they are not able to test gmail with every existing mail client, and they did not mention that they are aware of any similar problem. That's why I asked my question here.
I don't understand your logic. Are you trying to say that you are afraid of downloading your complete mailbox by accident? (please SAY! I can't read minds). Well, press ctrl-C if that starts happening.
No. I gmail offers 2GB mailbox, and mine is half full. If I want to check if some other mail client would work well (as was suggested in post I was replying to) I would have to download all my mail. That would take a lot of time (slow connection, as i wrote). If I was to stop download, it would serve no purpose, since my problem is that some mails are retrieved, and some not. I figured that it might be easier-faster if I asked if someone has similar problem hire in this newsgroup. So far no help, I am going to join to SC mailing list to ask for help there.
