To do this in software, you must presume that a) there are system serial numbers and model numbers recorded such that software can retrieve them, and b) that these software-retrievable values do not differ from the values printed on the buttet Management tag glued to the front of your computer.

If you have a system that supports DMI, then install "dmidecode"

Well, AFAIK, there's nothing native to the Linux kernel that retrieves such data. And there's certainly nothing that "pushes" that data to a central point. However you retrieve the information, you are going to have to runsomeapplication code (even if it is just "cat" or "mailx") on each system.

Add to that the fact that such information is a) not always recorded in a software-retrievable manner, and b) not always recorded with a single standard retrieval API you get therequirementof an application program for each system. If the system supports DMI, then the informationmaybe available through DMI. If the system supports some other means (a file on disk, perhaps), then the informationmayonly be available through the APIs buttociated withthatrecording mechanism.

Sorry, but you get what you get. :-S
