The Linux Advocates Playbook Revealed

First off, you will not find any Linux advocates in comp.os.linux.advocacy but you will find children, morons and other social defects for whom Linux is the only thing that they think they can do better than the populous at large. IOW using that CLI gives most of these yo-yo's a boner, a small boner, but a boner none the less.

So what are the typical tactics that these so called advocates use to refute posts by aliens to this group?

1. Discredit the poster. No matter what she says, attack the person and ignore the message. This works best when all the other children chime in, which they will because a negative Linux post is like sand in a wound to them.

2. Use the distribution shuffle. It works like this:

You say Redaht failed to install. They say you should have used Suse. You say Suse failed to install. They say you should have used Redhat.

And on and on.

This one works only up to the point that you discover all Linux distributions suck in one form or another. Some will work with your graphics card, others with you soundcard and still others with all of your USb devices. However, you will NEVER find one that works with everything.

3. Deny. This one is great. The Linux advocate will simply say "it works for me", with no proof at all. Another version of this is where the Linux advocate posts some outlandish message about doing some impossible task with Linux and yet offers up no proof. The Linux choir will back her up so why should she need any proof?

4. Attack Microsoft. Try and shift the focus toward Microsoft instead of focusing on Linuxs defects and there are many.
