I've seen that flatfish name mentioned before and in reading the comp.os.linux.advocacy group in particular it seems that just about any post that is negative towards Linux gets accused as coming from flatfish. If you look at the sheer number of postings attributed to this flatfish person, the number of different ISP's, the number of broadband and dedicated DSL connections being posted from you will soon see that it is physically impossible for one person to cause this much disruption. A person would have to be of the computer savvy level of a Mitnick to accomplish this task. Having studied this flatfish phenome for about 3 months or so I have come to the conclusion that several things are going on.

Frist, the Linux users in Linux groups, especially comp.os.linux.advocacy are using the flatfish phenome as a sort of trump card to discredit messages that they feel are anti linux and thus they don't want to linger into long threads thus causing bad press for Linux. Secondly this flatfish is not a person, but rather a group funded by some anti-linux group that has a lot of money to spend discrediting Linux. The bottom line is that there is no way all these people can be flatfish and by the same token there is no way all these posts can be from one flatish. It's physically impossible.
