Time to start Linuxing..some questions 2233The Natural Philosopher : Slackware or Debian are your friends. Slack is what I use and if you are familiar with CLI then it's dirt simple to use. The big differences between the two are SysV(deb) vs BSD(Slack) style init and the package managers. I dont really use a package manager, preferring to compile and install, and I hear apt-get is simply The poo, so if you want a package manager go for Debian, if not, go for Slack. Once I had a screen with an X in the middle of it I pbutted it... On either one you can use whatever WM floats your boat. Slack will install Fluxbox or TWM or Windowmaker as default if you so choose. I've built Appletalk-Samba machines on Slack that Just Work with little trouble, and use one in my office at home. Hm, you might be a bit out of luck here. Even Slack detects just about everything on install. You will probably hit the "How do I get this damnedable middle mouse button working" thing, but if your Google-foo is good, no worries. Easy easy easy. My vote goes to Slack, because I love it, but ewither Slack or Debian is where you want to be.
