UBUNTU and ADSL. I pray you helped me!!! 4875Cristian Those drivers are for USB modems. UBUNTU and ADSL. I pray you helped me!!! 4876 On Thu, 29 Sep 2005 11:17:01 -0400, John-Paul Stewart Hi John, thanks I apologize you, my a little flowing... If this is connected via Ethernet, then the eciadsl driver is not for you---that's for USB modems only. It is also not "obviously" a router. There are indeed non-router DSL "modems" that connect via Ethernet. A router will handle PPPoE and that sort of stuff internally while a modem will require running PPPoE on your computer, for example. Does your device support more than one computer? If so, *then* you can buttume it is a router. But if it can be plugged directly into one (and only one) computer, it's a DSL modem instead. But the difference between modem and router isn't terribly important. In either case, you need a driver for your Ethernet card and that's all, *not* the DSL modem-router. Once your Ethernet card is configured and working, then you'll need to know if you have a modem or router, and if your ISP uses DHCP or PPPoE. If you have a router, make sure it supports whichever of DHCP or PPPoE that your ISP uses. If you have a modem, then you'll need to install and configure either DHCP client or PPPoE client software on your computer.
