?? What's "1"? And what's "2"? UBUNTU and ADSL. I pray you helped me!!! 4879 On Thu, 29 Sep 2005 10:15:50 +0200, "Peter T. Breuer" Peter I apologize, but....have you... Please be aware of the medium you are using! I only see your post. Nothing more. Nothing less! If you have a router, then I don't see what a "card ethernet" has t do with it. Good for you, but that's useless to us, since we only see your post, not some other post you may have posted somewhere, some time. You must quote CONTEXT (sufficient, but not too much) every time you post.
They're not. They're not even there. You really need to read some newspapers. When they keep a story going over several days (as the BBC and CNN do), each report carries a fragment of the last one, so that new readers can understand what has already transpired. If you have a router, then there is nthing you need to do. Just set up your static default route to go via the router as gateway. If your router is also handing out local addresses via DHCP (or needs to have a dhcp address claimed before it will pbutt packets from that client), then run dhclient once. Turn the router off and on to reset it (30s pause) and make it query its neighbourhood. But I wouldn't bother getting local addresses via DHCP! YOU are the master in your own house, not the router. You tell IT what address it should have on your local net, and what addresses to like or dislike nearby. Now - tell us about your router, its configuration, and your routing configuration on your local box. And imagine you are writing a newspaper article. This is the NNTP (Net Newwwwwws) protocol. Peter
