UBUNTU how do I do to connect me as administrator Help me !!! 4840

I thank everybody unfortunately with the indications that you have given me I have not succeeded in resolving my problem. However as already says more times I think that the guilt is my scarce knowledge of Linux. Unfortunately I had urgency to make some tests and I have to the end decided to remove Ubuntu and to install Suse 9.3 (64) with which have succeeded to very quickly complete the buttignment using the only graphic interface. I know that many of you professionals of linux horrify to these words but...... I am a newborn in Linux and I had available little time to resolve the problem I have also taken this decision because after the installation of Ubuntu it didn't allow me to connect me to Internet (the configuration has not been completed in automatic way and this it created me some limitations) and it had not shaped in automatic way the terminal X (I know here it you will be laughing but I butture you that for a beginner they are problems of a certain difficulty). SUSE is revealed unbelievable: all ok and shaped in automatic way. This I have to say that it has done me some sorrow because I love the philosophy of Ubuntu But a thing is certain I want to return to install Ubuntu to understand it to fund and to understand Linux. I postpone to a moment in which I will have more time to disposition.
