UBUNTU how do I do to connect me as administrator Help me !!! 4841

Hurray I want to thank everybody. I Arrive from the world of windows and I have always considered too complicated Linux even if it always has me very attracted. Now however an evolved operating system serves me that knows to manage very well the virtual memory and talking to some experienced ones they have recommended me Linux . Is unbelievable to have received so timely answers. Thanks indeed to everybody Returning to my problem: I have understood that it is not the surest street but someone has told me whether to install "ROOT" (ROOT is a program cas of the Cern) I have to do this way....Don't ask more me (because in linux I feel me very confused)

The problem is really this, if I do as you tell me (boot) the message of answer is: it is not possible to connect as administrator in this way. Now if I make CTR+Alt+F1 I go to the prompt and it allows me to connect me as root but I am not inside the graphic interface (gnome) that for me to this level of beginner it is fundamental to be able to try to install the program of the cern
