Unhanging My MachineLew Pitcher What is a good Linux 'Clone' apt or procedure My main machine is a Shuttle with Debian 3.1 but is on a hard drive that is too small. I have purchased a Seagate 400gb on sale an want to transfer the contents from the... javajre version question on FC4 Max Reconfiguring FC4's default Java configuration, this is done as root or equivalent. First removevar-lib-alternatives-java file by typing; rmvar... Really hung. I'll try the alternate console suggestion. Don't know what the magic key is. It's a P3 500MHz machine with only 128M of RAM. I installed RHL 9 on it (yes, I know it's old.) and then installed a real time kernel on that. I could boot up either way. Then I installed the RT application, and tried to fire it up. The first operation to set it up is to use "make rtlinux" as root, then execute the app. It's hung twice in the make. The first time it hung, I powered down. Bad news. File system corrupted. I finally got by that and had to recompile the app. Tried the make again, and boom--hung. If the suggestions above don't work, I'll power down again. If I can get in, I'll look around. I probably have two options if that doesn't work. 1. Get it on it's feet again and pepper the Makefile with traces, or 2. Re-install everything. I'm beginning to think 128M did me in. I've installed this stuff on faster newer machines. I hope so. If you like or even don't like Woody Allen, his new film, "Match Point", luck plays a big factor in the drama-thriller. 3-4 stars. Wayne T.
