Hi John-Paul;

I think I should get some more RAM; ~$ free total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 192160 185080 7080 0 21864 43604 --+ buffers-cache: 119612 72548 Swap: 401584 67608 333976

While it showing 7080 free, it's really 72548 (buffers-cache) + 7080 when including the swap I think -- but I hate 'swapping' and for some reason I think the cache-buffers are affecting this constant write behavior, ...betweeen the Klipboard cache, Konsole's cache, Shell caches and history, and Browser Caches (Perhaps because; when I have many browser tabs open in konquerer and am also Replying to NGs within the stupid ga ga google interface - I notice it's a very *sluggish* system - takes time to redraw the screen, not snappy *at all*).

Ya know - I'll have to wait for night-time to really know (dont want to shutdown the AC right now)...maybe I'll even restart Konq and then restart X, just to see what happens.

Oh and to follow up on your explanation of the loof file scenario, I guess if I did it as another poster suggested, I *could* possibly(?) use this new-found CHATTR command on the File that I'm using avar perhaps(?) -- it becomes a sea of loops, with many confused ATTR then...yes? Dave Gibson's method seems to be the simplistic, and elegant approach in my situation...and while I own and strum a Gibson Les Paul :-) I had to do this command as well (just to see what effect overall, if any);

$ sudo chattr -R +Atmp

yowser!

I guess I can imagine some strange things happening if I applied this '+A' attribute to each DIR that resides under '-' ...yes-no? Can someone enlighten me on the possible Drawbacks of using 'chattr -R +A' on sayusr , or onhome. There are likely those system Dirs likeproc andmedia andmnt that I wouldn't want to do this to, since any changes aren't updated -- is that basically correct?
