Using ZeroConf networking with LinuxI'm planning to put together a very heterogenous network in a couple of weeks, including one windows PC, one Mac laptop, and two different linuxes. One of the latter is going to be a file server, and the other is a VCS server. What I want to do is use ZeroConf (mDNSResponder, or Avahi) on the two linux boxes to advertise services like: SSH, NFS mounts, DAVSVN ports, etc. That part is ... somewhat easy. I can set those up manually with no problem whatsoever. However, I'm MORE interested in client support for these. Supposing that my VCS server is advertising ssh services on some port, from some IP, and I want to connect to it from the file server -- is the SSH client zero-conf aware? If not, is there a way to make it act as though it were (through scripting, for example). I know that the apple PC can do this, or I'm led to expect so. But I'm not sure how to handle it with the windows and linux systems as clients. Also, and in a somewhat related vein, when advertising the existence of an NFS share via ZeroConf, what port do I use? Better yet, a sample config file for mDNSResponder would be an excellent response to the question. Small usage of swap memory Hi, I am useing debian linux.
