Apparently so.

But just the opposite is true for me: Windows is a waste of time. It has a horrible, pathetically weak shell, it doesn't come with any development tools or even good scripting languages, it doesn't come with ssh and its built in HyperTerminal has lousy emulations and very little power.

I can't do the most simple things without great effort, and can't even do at all many tasks I do every day on Linux or Mac OS X with ease.

Everything is hidden and secret - I can't look at any of the code, and that registry is full of secret things that can be dangerous to muck with.

When I look at the task manager, there are all sorts of programs running that I know nothing about, and there are no man pages to help me.

Only one person can use it at the same time! It has this "Remote Desktop" which is apparently a crippled version of their multi-user Terminal Server product, but it only allows one login at a time - useless. Why can't my wife and I BOTH use the machine? We can both use my Linux boxes..

Even if I bought the development system, it wouldn't do me a lot of good because very little Open Source code is written to work on Windows. Even if I add Windows Perl, a lot of Perl scripts won't work without modification. Even if I add Services For Unix, it still doesn't act like a real Unix machine.

It's just a pointless pile of junk for me.
