HP LaserJet 4P won't print grayscale
Greetings. Our HP LaserJet 4P works great for black-and-white text and line art, but won't print anything in grayscale -- if we send it a document or image...

Cal Lidderdale

I say to go with the telco-supplied dsl modem. I have not run DSL, but I do run Verizon's FiOS (fibre-optic to the home) and they force you to use their "modem": it is in the box on the side of the house and converts, among other things, from single-mode fibre to 4 voice lines, 1 data line (Cat-5e ethernet), and one coax for cable-TV. So there is no avoiding this. And then they insist you use their D-LINK VDI-624 router. They want you to do that so they can test the network all the way back to the input of the router (contains special firmware they say). Since I run only one computer on that line, I am sure I could bypbutt the thing and run PPPoE in my main machine but if they ever tried remote testing, they would either decide the line is bad, or that I had removed their router.

NFS mount issue
Here is my situation Server1 has a mountdbshared to Server2 AND Server1 has a device mountdb-aiServer1...

Now your DSL supplier may not be that fussy, but perhaps they, too, have special purpose stuff in their modem for remote testing and by eliminating it, you would mess stuff up, or they might just cut you off.
