Weird problem booting 80Weird problem booting 82 First I must say I don't know why this does not work as you expect. I would expect the same. Now, given this... On Fri, 06 Jan 2006 17:32:14 -0800, dravenloft Weird problem booting 81 In all honestly, I'm too lazy to take the drives out AND reconfigure GRUB. It's easier to hit del, and change my BIOS... Okay, the first thing, and you're not going to like this suggestion, but Windows doesn't "like" not being on the C: drive, especially '98 and versions before. It causes all kinds of problems. (For Windows. Not Linux.) Mapping the drives helps, but it's a "fix," not a solution. So, switch the drives and make the necessary changes to grub.conf, etc., so everything is properly configured. Or -- I know it's a pain -- just reinstall everything. Windows, first, then Linux. Should eliminate your problems. Second, don't use W98, if you don't have to. It's a nightmare to install, configure and maintain. (I call it Windows 3.1 Minus. ;-) ) Upgrade to, at least, Windows 2000 Pro, a dream to work with compared to '98. (W2k, used and legal, are available on eBay for $50 to $70, last time I checked.) In fact, I'd suggest not upgrading any farther than W2k. However, still put it on the C: drive. Yes, it will work on another drive or parbreastion, but why tempt fate. This is Windows after all: It doesn't expect to share space with another OS. One system, Windows Only. That's the Microsoft mantra. Stef
