What Linux distro for a P3 computer 3532Hi Peter, What Linux distro for a P3 computer 3533 It really doesn't matter. Ignore them. It's just a message. Not related (except that X is a network protocol, so it... iptables ftp problem can someone tell me why i can't connect to any ftp site with the following rules: #Turn on outgoing communication... Actually it did matter, because the messages kept appearing at random times, throughout the installation and when I tried to start an X server. At one point in the installation, it seemed to "help" lock up the system because they appeared during a "Yes" or "No" choice, I couldn't select "No" because they moved my cursor out of the way and I had to select "Yes". I think this was when the installation said it failed to install some modules and if I'd like to retry. Hitting "Yes" would freeze the system. a I think I did configure the X server. I selected the graphics adapter (NV for my NVidia Riva TNT2 card) and my screen resolutions & frequencies, so that would mean I did, right? to. I'm so new to Linux I don't know any command line commands beyond cp, mv, rm, mkdir, rmdir, chmod. If I need to know something specific I Google for it (like I learnt about grep, ssh and scp the other day...) Actually I used Unix before while at college but I didn't have any motivation or reason to learn beyond that. Which meant every time I got a bare install (just a command prompt) and no GUI I was so lost that to "fix" any problems I had to reinstall. How Windows spoils us! the Yeah, I did. The O-S actually "detected" the USB mouse during install. I had to move the mouse around as it suggested, though. I know it detected it because it said it wouldn't progress beyond that point if it didn't recognise it, and it would work immediately if I moved the mouse around but never work after X tries if I didn't move the mouse. But then after the install I still got no response from the mouse (had the joy of trying to fix and X server with keypad scrolling x.x). Thanks.
