What Linux distro for a P3 computer 3533
It really doesn't matter. Ignore them. It's just a message. Not related (except that X is a network protocol, so it may help trigger the messages if you messed up the hostname and other networky things profoundly enough - but it's not something you want to worry about first of all). Doesn't matter - the messages are not appearing on your input channel, though they may mess up the screen. You can always select the buttons - use tab to move between them and return or space to hit them. That the screen display is messed up affects your aim, not the program logic. (I presume this is an ncurses text display). It's trying to read or install stuff it already couldn't read or write once. The result would be a deep pause. Why not skip and install later? It's something that needs investigation, but without mre info I cannot comment. You might have been out of space to write into.
You didn't do it successfully or you didn't start it. The message says it is not running.
What Linux distro for a P3 computer 3534 That shouldn't be an issue as long as the same apps-utilities are on both boxes. There's nothing to running commands on a remote computer that you have control of... It's likely things got messed up here. Read up on nvidia installation.
That's a pretty good basic set. I suppose cp, cat, more, less, vi, would be more of the same. Good. What was there to be lost about? You needed to install and configure and start an X server if you wanted a gui. Modifying winxp parbreastion sizes with Knoppix Been googling using various sets of descriptions for fixing this, but am not having any luck. System: Phoenix - Award BIOS v6.00PG WinXP... ???
Sounds like a fairly sophisticated install routine. But is it for X only? If so, messing up the NV stuff may result in any config here being lost. Well, that's consistent with configuring PS-2 by defaullt. Switch to a text console and edit the config file to select USB mouse. Or plug in a ps-2 mouse. Peter
